‘Laredito’ brothel, orphanage in west downtown San Antonio closer to landmark status

The Dashiell House, 503 Urban Loop, could be designated a local landmark.

The 1883 Dashiell House, once a brothel in San Antonio’s red-light district before serving as a nursery, is now eligible to become a designated landmark—against the will of its owner.

Historical commission approves Whitt Printing building partial demo

The city Historic and Design Review Commission voted unanimously on Wednesday to support a proposal to demolish part of the historic Whitt Printing building in west downtown while preserving its façade and concrete structure.
