October 17, 2022 By Heron Staff Leave a Comment

A 29-story residential tower and a three-level retail building are planned for East Market Street at Hemisfair in San Antonio, Texas, as shown in these renderings submitted for the Oct. 19, 2022, Historic and Design Review Commission meeting. Developer Post Lake Capital Partners of Austin is building the market-rate apartments and retail space.

New Hemisfair renderings show a 29-story, 360-unit apartment tower with a 7-level parking garage and 25,000 square feet of retail space on East Market Street. The plans are up for review this week.

The Convent Park River Walk entrance at Convent and Augusta streets is where The Link could begin and head west, connecting to the San Pedro Creek Culture Park.

Two envisioned projects for west downtown—The Link from County Commissioner Tommy Calvert and a sports stadium by Weston Urban —could be competing head-to-head.

‘We’ve been gentrified.’ McKee-Rodriguez spurring new conversation about gentrification in San Antonio

June 11, 2022 By Ben Olivo Leave a Comment

Development has increased around San Antonio’s Government Hill neighborhood over the last few years, resulting in modern out of place seeming homes and condos next to historic family residences as seen on Dec. 30, 2021.

District 2 Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez wants a displacement study completed when developers seek incentives from the city.

GrayStreet Partners’ big dream for Houston Street that never materialized

The 300 block of East Houston Street includes the Vogue, Grant and Kress buildings.

In 2015, GrayStreet Partners announced it had purchased several iconic buildings on East Houston Street, and spoke of the corridor’s rebirth. Nearly seven years later, the local developer has been selling off its assets as it shifts focus, and capital, to other projects.

Analysis: Weston Urban’s high-rise tower ‘blazes the trail’ for downtown growth

November 27, 2020 By Richard Webner 4 Comments

This lot next to the Milam building and Weston Centre could be a 32-story apartment tower by Weston Urban.

The local developer’s proposed 32-story tower will be the tallest residential building downtown by a long shot, bringing a style of high-rise urban living that most major cities can offer, but San Antonio cannot.
