A year after a truncated version of A Night in Old San Antonio, or NIOSA, was held, the popular four-day event returned to La Villita, let’s say, wider than ever. NIOSA is typically held at La Villita. Because of the reconstruction of Maverick Plaza, the renovation of the former CPS Energy building, and other changes to the area, organizers expanded the event into Hemisfair. That could have explained why there seemed to be more breathing room, at least on Tuesday night, than in past years. NIOSA is the largest fundraiser for The Conservation Society of San Antonio, whose mission is to preserve San Antonio’s historic buildings, as well as culture. The event continues tonight and Friday at La Villita and Hemisfair. Here is some of the action from Wednesday night. — Heron staff
