Fiesta Cornyation made a triumphant return Tuesday night to the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre, and to Fiesta in general, after a two-year hiatus due to Covid. The show dates back to 1951, and is packed with raunchy and satirical performances poking fun at the big news and newsmakers of the past year. Each year, the nonprofit Fiesta Cornyation raises more than $200,000 for nonprofits San Antonio AIDS Foundation, BEAT AIDS, and Thrive Youth Center, and also offers four scholarships on a rotating basis. This year, Jesse Mata presides over the festivities as King Anchovy LV under the theme “The Court of Magnificent Resilience.” Shows continue at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday nights, Empire Theatre, 226 N. St. Mary’s St., (210) 226-5700. Tickets, $15-$45, available at Ticketmaster. — Heron staff
