This five-building apartment complex on San Pedro Creek is being proposed for 419 W. Cevallos St. COURTESY NRP GROUP

Last week, NRP Group received conceptual approval from the Historic and Design Review Commission to proceed with an apartment complex it’s designing on San Pedro Creek.

The site, which is located at 419 W. Cevallos St. near Interstate 10, is on the most southern stretch of the San Pedro Creek project.

Overall, the apartment project is composed of 320 units across five structures — two that face the creek, two that face Cevallos Street, and a fifth inside the 9-acre property — that range from three to four stories in height.

The approval from Wednesday’s HDRC meeting was for the project’s massing (its size), the site plan and location of the different buildings. A more detailed design will return to the HDRC at a later date.

Designers with NRP Group said after the HDRC meeting that they hope to break ground on the development early next summer.
