The San Antonio Heron, a registered nonprofit in Texas, is seeking a motivated individual to sell this website to potential sponsors, as well as take on other business-related duties.

The Heron, a news organization in San Antonio reporting on the downtown area and its surrounding communities, is barely four months old and already has amassed five-digit monthly traffic that continues to grow.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in media sales to help grow this organization into a new and sustainable reader-oriented model for journalism San Antonio.

This position is commission-based to start. However, as revenue starts flowing in, this person will be compensated accordingly. The goal is for this to become a full-time position. Eventually, this person’s role would expand to handle procuring larger contributions from individuals and foundations, as the Heron works to secure its 501(c)(3) status.

This person would work with Heron CEO and co-founder Ben Olivo on setting monthly revenue targets and deadlines. Someone who is familiar with the specifications of nonprofit sponsorships is preferred. The Heron being a start-up, this rep must be independent-minded—a self-starter who seeks out prospective accounts on their own. They must also possess excellent spelling, grammar and written communications skills, with a high level of attention to detail in composing, typing and proofreading materials and proposals.

All interested parties should send a resume and cover letter to ben@saheron.com
