Heron receives 501(c)(3) status

Earlier this week, the San Antonio Heron received its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status from the IRS. This means any donation to the Heron—from a person, business or organization—is tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.

Our EIN is 83-1163274.

As we near our first birthday (June 14), the reader support and company sponsorships continue to trickle in. We appreciate every dollar we’ve received so far. However, if we’re going to continue to crank out content, especially in-depth stories such as the recent piece we did on the changing West Side with the San Antonio Current, or our recent look at East Side property values, we need that support to continue and heighten some.

Hopefully, our status as a charitable organization will help in this regard.

If you’re unable to give, we ask you help spread the word about the Heron to anyone who might be looking for a worthy charity to contribute to. The formula’s pretty simple: The more contributions we receive, the more content we can produce.

For more info on how you can support the Heron, click here. Or, contact Christian Molina, our membership & development coordinator at 915-328-8162 or christian@saheron.com.
