Gourdough’s postpones River Walk grand opening

Gourdough’s Public House’s highly-anticipated River Walk grand opening won’t happen until March 2.

The Austin-based, donut-themed restaurant was slated to open this Saturday inside the 7,000-square-foot, multi-level River Walk space at 215 Losoya St.

A press release this morning cites unforeseen construction delays as the reason for the delay. Gourdough’s was going to give away free donuts for two hours tomorrow. Now, it will be giving away donuts for four hours—from noon to 4 p.m.—at its new grand opening date.

Other perks will be offered, but at the risk of this sounding like a press release, we’ll stop with the free donuts.

When it does open, Gourdough’s will add a brunch and late-night-eats option to the River Walk, which currently lacks both.

Recently, the restaurant announced its latest donut creation just for its River Walk location—the Selena-based Bidi Bidi Bon Bon, a play on the singer’s hit “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” which is “sparkly hot purple cinnamon butter cream cheese icing, white chocolate covered bon bons, chocolate pearls, and a white chocolate sauce drizzle.”

A Gourdough’s menu staple is the Mother Clucker, which is fried chicken breast and honey butter on a donut.

Hours of operation will be 11 a.m.-midnight Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-midnight Sunday.

Your statement ” Gourdough’s will add a brunch and late-night-eats option to the River Walk, which currently lacks both.” is incorrect. The Original Mexican restaurant is right across from this location and is open 24 hours a day every day for “late night eats” and “brunch”
