‘Along the lines of Hotel Emma.’ Austin developer has big plans for San Antonio Express-News building

The former San Antonio Express-News building, 301 Avenue E, was recently purchased by Sutton Co. of Austin, which has plans to convert it into a mixed-use development.

Sutton Co. of Austin plans to convert the 1929 newspaper building into a boutique hotel with multifamily housing, retail and perhaps even a music venue.

Aztec Theater owners adding rooftop restaurant, boutique hotel to historic building

Renderings show the addition of a boutique hotel inside the Aztec Theater building, 104 N. St. Mary’s St. A rooftop restaurant and bar are included.

The Aztec Theater’s owners are seeking approval to add a rooftop restaurant and bar, part of a plan to convert unused office space into an upscale 77-room boutique hotel.

Weston Urban expected to buy Koehler House to serve as hotel, restaurant

Developer Weston Urban is reaching beyond downtown as it prepares to buy the historic Koehler House from the Alamo Colleges District.

Staybridge Suites purchase expands local partnership’s St. Paul Square control

The Staybridge Suites, 123 Hoefgen Ave., was recently purchased by a local partnership that includes developer David Adelman.

Over the last five years, the partnership of developer David Adelman, and real estate executives Michael Jersin and Don Thomas of CBRE, have come to dominate St. Paul Square.

CPS Energy sells former HQ to out-of-town firm with hotel plans

The CPS Energy company, 145 Navarro St., is selling one of its buildings in downtown San Antonio, Texas, Jan. 4, 2022.

CPS Energy has sold its former headquarters at 145 Navarro St. on the River Walk to a real estate company that plans to renovate it into a hotel.

Culinary destination planned for circa-1870s Maverick building on Soledad in downtown San Antonio

R.S. Merit Real Estate Co. is planning an 11-room span inside a circa-1877 building at 112 Soledad St.

A historic preservation project consisting of multiple restaurants and a small hotel is taking shape in a two-story historic building on Soledad Street, next to the old Mexican Manhattan restaurant.

Wyndham River Walk hotel purchased with plans for $50M renovation

The Wyndham San Antonio River Walk, 111 E. Pecan St., was recently purchased with plans for it to become a luxury InterContinental Hotel.

Two firms from outside Texas have purchased the Wyndham San Antonio River Walk hotel with plans to spend $50 million to turn it into a luxury InterContinental Hotel in early 2023.

Olivo: Lone Star Brewery’s $24M incentive deal needed more critical analysis

The former Lone Star Brewery is eyed for redevelopment by Midway and GrayStreet Partners.

Any concerns about the sheer size of the Lone Star’s $24 million incentive deal, or over the potential displacement of nearby residents, were outweighed by the fact that someone is finally breathing new life into these ghostly industrial shells after 25 years.
