Development Profile: 121-room Artista Hotel approved by San Antonio design review commission

The 121-room Artista Hotel is being planned for 151 E. Travis St., San Antonio, Texas, along the River Walk, by California developer Jake Harris.

The 121-room Artista Hotel planned for a compact property on East Travis Street and the river received final approval from the Historic and Design Review Commission on Wednesday.

Development Profile: Zachry Hospitality submits design for Hemisfair’s 17-story boutique hotel

Renderings submitted by the Hemisfair Park Public Facilities Corp. show a 17-story, mixed-use tower to be built at Hemisfair at 222 S. Alamo St. The plans were scheduled to be presented to the Historic and Design Review Commission on Sept. 7, 2022.

The design for Hemisfair’s boutique hotel, an at-times controversial project that has gestates over several years, was given conceptual approval by the the city’s Historic and Design Review Commission (HDRC) without discussion on Wednesday.

Indiana company scales up hotel tower planned for South Alamo in downtown San Antonio

White Lodging of Merrillville, Indiana, has submitted plans to build a 347-room, 10-story boutique hotel at 423 S. Alamo St.

White Lodging is now planning a 10-story hotel tower facing Hemisfair’s Yanaguana Garden that includes a rooftop pool and bar, and a street-level steakhouse.

Marriott Tribute brand chosen for Aztec’s boutique hotel

Part of the Aztec Theater building, 104 N. St. Mary’s St., is scheduled to be turned into a boutique hotel that will include a rooftop restaurant and bar.

Renovation of the Aztec Theater building’s upper floors into a 77-room boutique hotel is expected to begin in August.

‘Along the lines of Hotel Emma.’ Austin developer has big plans for San Antonio Express-News building

The former San Antonio Express-News building, 301 Avenue E, was recently purchased by Sutton Co. of Austin, which has plans to convert it into a mixed-use development.

Sutton Co. of Austin plans to convert the 1929 newspaper building into a boutique hotel with multifamily housing, retail and perhaps even a music venue.

Renderings show the addition of a boutique hotel inside the Aztec Theater building, 104 N. St. Mary’s St. A rooftop restaurant and bar are included.

The Aztec Theater’s owners are seeking approval to add a rooftop restaurant and bar, part of a plan to convert unused office space into an upscale 77-room boutique hotel.

Over the last five years, the partnership of developer David Adelman, and real estate executives Michael Jersin and Don Thomas of CBRE, have come to dominate St. Paul Square.

CPS Energy sells former HQ to out-of-town firm with hotel plans

The CPS Energy company, 145 Navarro St., is selling one of its buildings in downtown San Antonio, Texas, Jan. 4, 2022.

CPS Energy has sold its former headquarters at 145 Navarro St. on the River Walk to a real estate company that plans to renovate it into a hotel.
