Every day at sunset, from April to October, 50,000 Mexican free-tailed bats leave their colony under I-35 at the Museum Reach to dine. Presumably, they go to the Pearl.
In celebration of these winged creatures, the 6th annual Bat Loco Bash takes places 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Museum Reach, 1300 Camden St. Or, find the hanging fish.
The event includes appearances by Echo the Bat, “SA Batman,” Batwoman, Bat Girl — the whole family — and the 1966 Batmobile. And food trucks Huijosu!, Cheesy Jane’s, Changos Gourmet Hotdogs, Fat Tummy, Lada Ladies, Mister Softee Ice Cream and Mrs. Snow Shaved Ice.
The event hosted by the San Antonio River Authority, the San Antonio River Foundation, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and Austin-based Bat Conservation International.
