The ripple effect of the Uvalde shooting on two San Antonio educators

Two San Antonio educators want to identify kids who are isolated and provide them with an opportunity to be mentored by a teacher or staff member. Angela Taylor-Duncan said it could be as simple as seeing a kid eating lunch alone and joining them.

Bond dollars for Sunken Garden Theater could go to other Brackenridge Park projects

The Brackenridge Conservancy is planning a $63 million renovation of the Sunken Garden Theater.

The Brackenridge Park Conservancy is seeking $5 million from the upcoming bond to help renovate Sunken Garden Theater, a plan the nearby River Road neighborhood still opposes.

Jonathan Ray Coronialla opened his yerberia, Botanica los Misterios, on the south side of San Antonio 10 years ago as a positive place for spiritual and physical healing for the community, he said on Dec. 2, 2021.

Though I had gone into Botanica Los Misterios to interview the owner about the herb shop’s maintenance during the Covid-19 pandemic, our conversation took a turn when he mentioned El Niño Fidencio, a Mexican curandero.

Artist celebrated at Esperanza’s Día de los Muertos event where she volunteered

An altar by Blanca Rivera honors her friend Angie Merla, who was a volunteer at the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center, during the center's annual Día de los Muertos event at the Rinconcito de Esperanza arts hub on the West Side.

Angie Merla, an artist and long-time volunteer at the Esperanza’s Día de los Muertos event, was honored with an ofrenda after she died of cancer earlier this year.
